Quality Assurance Engineer I

A Quality Assurance Engineer displays an excellent understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC), and fundamental QA processes followed in the organization. The engineer supports the defined QA processes with sincerity and consistently across various engagements. They work on the project tasks independently after seeking guidance from team members. To continuously learn and grow along the career path, the engineer reaches out to experienced team members to be more productive, understand the organization’s/project’s needs and pick up new skills that are aligned with the organizational goals.

The engineer is proactive in communicating status to the team members, discuss blockers to ensure that work is got done within the estimated time. They live Axelerant’s core values Enthusiasm, Openness, and Kindness by practising it in their day-to-day work.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for understanding and analysing requirements.
    - Validated by the feedback from PMs and clients
    - Validated by number of reopens from the UAT due to requirement mismatch
  • Responsible for thoroughly following the basic QA processes.
    - Validated by a Jira audit to check the following Test artefacts:
    • Test Plan created as per the IEEE 829 format
    • Test Suite is created as per the recommended structure
    • Maintenance of Test Suite 
    • Test execution results are accurately and consistently captured
    • Tickets are updated with appropriate comments in the expected format
  • Responsible for up-skilling themselves.
    - Validated by learning and implementing newly learned skills in current engagements:
    • Active participation in internal Testathons
    • Setting up OKRs aligned with the organisational goals and meeting expectations
    • Learning through any other internal or external program and bringing it within the Axelerant engagement


Requirements:

  • 1+ years of relevant career experience
  • Experience in cross-browser testing
  • Experience in cross-device (mobile) testing
  • Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle and Software Testing Lifecycle
  • Comfortable communicating in English
  • Available to work full time


Nice to Have:

  • Experience using agile methodologies
  • Basic knowledge of Test Automation (at least using codeless based solutions)

Special Considerations:

All of Axelerant's roles are considered work from anywhere. However, some jobs are regionally specific due to sales or other onsite considerations. For example, when living in Costa Rica and applying for a US sales role, we will not consider you for that job opening.
Except for regionally specific jobs, like UK/US-based account executives or Canadian-based software contributors, our salaries are paid per India-based compensation plans.
Also, we typically expect people to have a two-to-four-hour crossover with the 11 AM to 7 PM India (UTC+05:30) timezone each workday for meetings and coaching.
